What are you going to do

We are working with our client in the oil and gas sector to appoint an experienced Mechanical Supervisor (Offshore) to join our client's team in Dubai. This permanent position is ideal for a hands-on leader who can supervise, coordinate and participate in the installation, maintenance, repair and testing of critical offshore mechanical equipment, ensuring reliability and strict adherence to HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, supervise and execute installation, maintenance, repair and testing of offshore mechanical equipment, including gas turbines, compressors and pumps.
  • Supervise mechanical technicians and contractors, allocate work, monitor performance and ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.
  • Plan and coordinate preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance, including PTW, manpower, materials, tools and equipment requirements.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical faults, inspect completed work and perform equipment testing, commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Manage work orders, maintenance records, checklists, manpower hours and material usage through Oracle CMMS.
  • Support major shutdowns, turnarounds and overhauls by preparing work scopes, schedules and coordinating execution with Production and Planning teams.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE policies, PTW requirements, safety procedures and emergency response responsibilities.
  • Review and update PPM procedures, drawings, BOMs, work packs and project scopes.
  • Supervise equipment modifications, installations and commissioning, including Management of Change (MOC) implementation.
  • Monitor contractors, spare parts, materials and workshop activities to optimize maintenance efficiency and equipment availability.
  • Conduct PTW audits, support QNC investigations and coordinate corrective actions with Quality Assurance teams.
  • Attend daily coordination meetings, set maintenance priorities and provide technical updates to Maintenance Superintendents.
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians, support staff development and assume Maintenance Superintendent responsibilities when required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and recommend mechanical equipment upgrades to improve reliability and performance.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • HNC in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Modern Apprenticeship in the mechanical trade(equivalent to UK, City and Guilds/NVQ).
  • 8-10 years varied Mechanical installation, maintenance and repair experience of Gas Turbine, Compressor, Pumps and general mechanical equipment associated with oil & gas production.
  • Experience should include supervisory experience and experience in the use of computer maintenance and materials systems.
  • Should be computer literate, having knowledge of Microsoft applications and Oracle/SAP experience is preferred.
  • Fluent English speaking, reading and writing.
