Introduction

Brunel International is seeking an experienced Senior Long Term Planning Engineer (Underground) to join our dynamic team on a FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out) basis to Papua New Guinea (PNG). This is a unique opportunity for a skilled professional to contribute to large-scale projects while enjoying the benefits of working in a challenging and rewarding environment.

About this role

As a Senior Long Term Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing long-term underground project schedules, ensuring alignment with project goals and stakeholder expectations. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimise resource allocation, monitor progress, and provide strategic insights to support decision-making. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying risks and opportunities, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. The position is based on a FIFO roster to PNG, requiring flexibility and adaptability to remote working conditions.

As a key contributor to the underground mining operations, you will be responsible for delivering long-term mine plans that optimise the life of the asset while enabling the business to meet both short - and long-term objectives in safety, production, and cost. You will produce practical development and production designs based on new and updated geological resource models, and logically sequence and schedule mine areas to enhance overall production and economic outcomes.

Is this you?

  • Proven experience as a Long Term Planning Engineer, preferably within both bulk and narrow vein hard rock mining, including exposure to pastefill operations
  • Membership with AusIMM (or an equivalent professional body) is required, along with advanced proficiency in Deswik and hands-on experience with stope optimisation programs
  • You will have proven expertise in calculating life-of-mine (LOM) mining costs, cut-off grades, and reserves and resources.
  • Ability to develop and maintain integrated project schedules and resource plans.

  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
