Introduction

We are currently hiring a Project Estimator for our mining client. The Project Estimator will require experience in all aspects of underground mining in both the field and office work environments. In this role, the Project Estimator will work alongside our team of professionals and be responsible for providing estimating support to projects in both US and Canada. This is a full-time permanent position.

About this role

  • Assist with the development and implementation of systematic reviews of Request for Proposals and Tender documentation to assess risks and opportunities.
  • Assist with the preparation of tenders in general and tender qualifications and clarifications in particular.
  • Take part in and assist with pre-award site visits and negotiations.
  • Provide recommendations and assist in the implementation of standardized bidding formats to take advantage of historical project cost control information.
  • Ensure that documents and records related to completed projects are filed appropriately and as required by law.
  • Maintain a record of and ensure compliance with post-completion requirements such as warrantees, holdbacks, Final Certificate of Completion, the release of bonds or guarantees etc.
  • Collect close-out reports (to be developed) from the area managers on the completion of each project and ensure that mining statistics for each project are documented for future estimating purposes.
  • Ensure that all subcontracts and third-party relationships are properly documented, managed and executed.
  • Adherence to all corporate and project policy, processes and procedures.
  • Other tasks as assigned Supervisor.
  • Knowledge of software systems such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Access, Visio, and SharePoint.
  • Emphasizing the importance of safety through consistent messaging.
  • Establishing clear safety accountability.
  • Understanding and applying safety management systems.
  • Open dialogue with co-workers and peers related to matters of safety.

Is this you?

  • Prior experience estimating in either mining or construction environment
  • Ability to learn or understand mining terminology
  • Experience in an estimating software platform
  • Knowledge of other software systems such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and SharePoint
  • Ability to self-start, work under little supervision and meet firm deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills
  • Methodical and detail-oriented approach to work practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to support and promote Corporate Health & Safety practices
  • Passion and aptitude to train and share your experiences with others in related processes, procedures, and software
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to travel throughout North America is required
