Introduction

On behalf of our client a global mining company we are recruiting for a Drill Fitter to join their team in permanent capacity on a 8:6 roster.

The Drill Fitter is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of drilling equipment used in underground and surface mineral exploration activities.

About this role

  • Conduct scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, and breakdown repairs on drilling rigs including diamond drill rigs and associated support equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults on drill rigs and drilling systems.
  • Replace and fit mechanical components such as hydraulic pumps, compressors, mast assemblies, rotary heads, rods, and support systems.
  • Maintain and repair diesel engines, power packs, hydraulic systems, and drive components used in drilling operations.
  • Perform inspections and condition monitoring of rigs to identify wear, damage, or potential mechanical failures.
  • Work closely with drillers and site supervisors to ensure equipment reliability and minimise operational downtime.
  • Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and spare parts inventory to ensure operational readiness.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with site safety standards, company procedures, and industry regulations.
  • Complete maintenance reports, service records, and equipment documentation accurately.

Is this you?

  • Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Diesel Fitter, or similar (Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and heavy mobile equipment.
  • Previous experience maintaining drilling rigs, preferably diamond or exploration drill rigs.
  • Experience working in mining, exploration drilling, or remote site environments is highly regarded.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical faults and perform repairs under field conditions.
  • Strong commitment to safety and preventative maintenance practices.
