Site Operations Lead - Solar Farm

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Site Operations Lead to manage the day-to-day operations of a utility-scale solar farm. Reporting to the O&M Manager, you will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient site performance while maintaining high standards across safety, compliance, and asset management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a strong safety culture and drive Zero Harm across site activities
  • Oversee site access, inductions, permits, and compliance
  • Manage inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance to meet operational targets
  • Identify and implement condition-based maintenance and resolve performance issues with technical teams
  • Monitor and report on site budget, resource allocation, and contractor performance
  • Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely replenishment
  • Maintain CMMS records, schedule maintenance, and train staff on system usage
  • Collaborate with peers across the network to share best practices and drive operational efficiency

Skills & Experience

  • Electrical Licence, preferably with nominee capabilities; HV switching qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years in a similar role, preferably in solar or renewable energy
  • Knowledge of solar plant operations, inverters, transformers, and SCADA systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage contractors and multi-disciplinary teams effectively
  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred

Is this you?

An experienced operations leader with a strong electrical background and a proven track record in utility-scale solar or renewable energy assets. The ideal candidate combines hands-on technical expertise with the ability to lead teams, manage contractors, and optimise site performance.

They will typically have 5+ years' experience in site operations, O&M, or asset management within solar, BESS, or broader power generation environments, with a solid understanding of inverters, transformers, HV systems, and SCADA platforms.

A safety-first mindset is essential, with demonstrated experience driving Zero Harm cultures, managing permits, and ensuring full compliance with WHS and operational standards
