Introduction

Brunel is partnering with a leading energy operator to source a Senior Production Technologist with expertise in CSG Hydraulic Fracture Stimulation.

This Brisbane-based contract role will support the Future Volumes team by advancing stimulation strategies, driving innovation, and embedding best practices.

The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge in tight coal formations and strong leadership to mentor and influence across teams.

About this role

  • Lead screening and evaluation of well design and completion options for tight coal development
  • Mature Production Technology scopes to high decision quality, balancing risk and value
  • Integrate log, core, DFIT, and microseismic data into stimulation planning and design
  • Provide technical input into project deliverables such as Well Design Concepts, Concept Select Reports and Functional Specifications
  • Coach and mentor junior production technologists and other cross-functional team members
  • Champion innovation, best practice application, and continuous improvement across fracture stimulation processes

Is this you?

  • Essential: Extensive experience in Coal Seam Gas (CSG), with a strong focus on hydraulic fracture stimulation in tight coal formations. Prior knowledge of the Surat Basin is highly preferred; however, comparable experience in other CSG basins globally will be considered.
  • Tertiary qualification in Petroleum Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Recognised subject matter expert in CSG Hydraulic Fracture Stimulation, with a proven track record of delivering outcomes across the full stimulation lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated expertise in front-end screening, fracture design, operational execution, and economic evaluation.
  • Strong understanding of Surat Basin geology and development challenges, with experience applying stimulation techniques in tight coal formations.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence multi-disciplinary teams and engage with senior stakeholders to drive technical decisions.
  • Skilled in integrating various data sources (e.g., DFIT, microseismic, well logs) into informed and optimised fracture designs.
  • Excellent planning, communication, and leadership capabilities, with a strong focus on delivery and execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop others, with a collaborative mindset and commitment to fostering a high-performance team culture.
