Infrastructure
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the rectification, redesign and replacement of critical infrastructure at a Pollution Treatment Plant located at a locomotive maintenance depot in Rockhampton, QLD. The existing plant-over 30 years old-has reached end-of-life, with significant corrosion throughout the effluent holding tanks, degradation of the oil-water separator, failures within the pneumatic valve system, and issues affecting the PLC control equipment. The system now presents a major operational and environmental risk, requiring timely engineering intervention.
The Project Engineer will take the lead in developing robust, compliant and future-proof engineering design solutions to ensure long-term operability of the site. This is a flexible work-from-home role with periodic site visits to support surveys, assessments and construction planning.
Deliver engineering design for the PTP rectification and replacement project.
Conduct site surveys, inspections and data collection to inform design development.
Produce design status drawing packages.
Address technical issues involving effluent tanks, oil-water separation systems, pneumatic valves and PLC-based controls.
Prepare detailed design reports including design considerations, engineering calculations and optioneering.
Develop Bills of Materials/Quantities, technical specifications and Scope of Works for construction tendering.
Provide all drawings in both PDF and AutoCAD DWG format.
Develop Safety in Design documentation including risk registers and reports.
Ensure all design documents and reports receive RPEQ certification.
Provide ongoing engineering support during construction tender review processes.
Degree-qualified Engineer (Mechanical, Environmental, Chemical or similar).
RPEQ or ability to obtain RPEQ sign-off.
Experience with industrial wastewater treatment, effluent systems or similar heavy-industry infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of oil-water separation, corrosion management, valve systems and PLC-controlled process equipment.
Proficient in AutoCAD and engineering documentation delivery.
Able to work autonomously and travel to Rockhampton for site visits when required.
