Brunel is proud to partner with Chevron to recruit an experienced Instrument Engineer to join the Wheatstone Frontline Technical Team on a residential basis in Onslow, WA. This is a rare opportunity to support one of WA's most critical energy assets, delivering technical expertise to ensure the integrity, reliability, and performance of instrumented systems.

About this role

As part of a multi-discipline onsite team, the successful candidate will provide daily support to operations, maintenance, and reliability teams-ensuring Chevron's high standards of safety and operational excellence are met. Duties include:

  • Reinforce Chevron's HSE culture in line with Safety Management Systems and performance standards
  • Maintain technical integrity of instrumented systems across the site
  • Manage closure of safety-related actions from HAZOP/LOPA reviews
  • Monitor instrument equipment reliability and lead IC testing requirements
  • Optimise maintenance strategies for instrument systems
  • Provide site-based technical support to maintenance teams, specialists, and production leads

Is this you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an instrumentation role in oil & gas operations
  • Functional Safety implementation knowledge (TÜV Rheinland or equivalent certification essential)
  • Working knowledge of Australian and international standards
  • Broad understanding of field instrumentation and control systems
  • Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Alignment with Chevron's values: safety, inclusion, performance, integrity, and environmental stewardship
