Introduction

On behalf of our client, a High Profile Global Oil & Gas Operator, Brunel is presently sourcing an Environmental Advisor - Biosecurity & Ecology. This will be a 24-month DIDO contract based in Chinchilla, Qld on a 15:13 roster; open to candidates presently residing in Queensland.

About this role

  • You will provide specialist advice and assurance on vegetation management, oversee biosecurity compliance and manage relevant stakeholder engagement
  • Be the technical focal point for biosecurity and land management, ensuring operational continuity and regulatory compliance

Primarily focus on mitigating risks associated with the Company's Assets by:

  • Being the focal point for biosecurity and land management components to enable continued land access and production including technical advice for landholder engagements, regulators and, industry working groups
  • Implementing and coordinating the accredited management system to minimise risk and drive cost effective and strategic biosecurity and ecological improvements whilst ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Supporting delivery and monitoring framework for adaptive land management measures to balance operational requirements (eg asset integrity & safe access) and compliance with protected plant, reinstatement and rehabilitation regulatory and permit obligations
  • Conducting in-field assurance activities including incident and corrective action reporting, deliver training, and awareness sessions on environmental and biosecurity procedures across business units and provide quality assurance (QA) support
  • Providing administrative and technical support to the Environment Advisor Soils to maintain operational continuity, assist in prioritisation of scopes, and address landholder grievances

Is this you?

  • A degree or equivalent in an Environmental Science (Ecology) discipline or Environmental Management
  • Experienced dealing with biosecurity, agronomy, field ecology or vegetation management within the Brigalow Belt bioregion
  • Skilled in site assessments, analytical reporting and developing and overseeing implementation of environmental management plans
  • Working knowledge of current Qld & Commonwealth Environmental legislation and policies regarding biosecurity, vegetation, fauna management with emphasis on General Biosecurity Obligations
  • Dealing with landholders/regulators and operations within the Oil & Gas industry or broader resource sector (preferable)
  • Cleaning and inspection of light and heavy vehicles used for resource activities
  • Inspecting source and stored materials for the purposes of completing Biosecurity Declaration
  • Hold a Commercial Operator Agricultural Chemical Distribution Control Licence (National Competencies: AHCPMG301 Control Weeds; AHCCHM303 Prepare and apply chemicals; and AHCCHM304 Transport, handle, and store chemicals)
  • Contractor management, particularly safe systems of work, forecasting and scheduling work
  • Dealing with ESC and rehabilitating construction sites - highly regarded
  • Confident report writing and presentation skills, and a willingness to proactively connect stakeholders across the business
