We are hiring on behalf of our client, a leading engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) organization specializing in offshore oil & gas, marine, and energy infrastructure projects.

Our client is seeking an experienced Welding Engineer to lead and oversee all welding-related activities across complex offshore and marine projects, including FPSO, FSO, FLNG conversions, topside modules, offshore platforms, subsea systems, pipelines, pressure vessels, structural steel fabrication, and marine construction projects.

This is a key technical role responsible for ensuring welding activities are planned, executed, monitored, and controlled in compliance with project specifications, international codes, classification society requirements, and client standards. The successful candidate will serve as the focal point between Engineering, Construction, QA/QC, Project Management, Clients, Vendors, and Fabrication Yards, providing technical leadership and assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in offshore fabrication, welding engineering, quality management, procedure qualification, and welding performance improvement. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to major regional and international offshore energy projects while driving welding excellence, quality enhancement, and operational efficiency.

Welding Engineering Management

  • Responsible for overall welding engineering activities throughout project execution.
  • Develop, review, approve and maintain WPS, PQR, WPQ and welding-related procedures.
  • Ensure welding activities comply with project specifications, Client requirements, Classification Society rules, and applicable international codes.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Construction, QA/QC, Engineering and Fabrication teams.

Welding Procedure Qualification

  • Review and approve welding procedures for carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, super duplex stainless steel, nickel alloys and other special materials.
  • Coordinate qualification testing activities and ensure compliance with applicable codes.
  • Review welding procedure, qualification test results and provide recommendations.

Welder-Qualification Management

  • Coordinate and monitor welder qualification testing programs.
  • Review and approve Welder Performance Qualification Records (WPQ).
  • Ensure welders are qualified and remain current for assigned welding processes and materials.
  • Monitor welder performance and implement improvement plans where necessary.

Welding Production Support

  • Support fabrication teams during construction and production activities.
  • Resolve welding-related technical issues and nonconformances.
  • Provide recommendations for welding sequence, distortion control and productivity improvement.
  • Monitor welding consumable usage and storage requirements.

Quality Assurance and Quality Control

  • Monitor welding quality performance and weld repair trends.
  • Review welding inspection reports, NDT reports and welding records.
  • Participate in internal audits, client audits and surveillance activities.
  • Support NCR investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

Interface Management

  • Coordinate with Clients, Classification Societies, Third Party Inspection Agencies and Certifying Authorities.
  • Participate in technical meetings related to welding and fabrication activities.
  • Support project reviews, risk assessments and lessons learned activities.

Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor Welding Repair Rate (WRR) and Welding Success Rate (WSR).
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve welding quality.
  • Promote best industry practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University in Materials, Welding or Metallurgy Engineering Discipline
  • EWF/IIW Diploma if Welding Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience in the Offshore Oil & Gas Industry with an Oil & Gas Company or Contractor.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the capacity of a Welding Engineer.

  • In-depth knowledge of welding processes including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW and Orbital Welding.
  • Strong understanding of welding metallurgy for Carbon Steel, LTCS, Stainless Steel, Duplex Stainless Steel, Super Duplex Stainless Steel and Nickel Alloys.
  • Thorough knowledge of ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, API 1104, ISO 15614, ISO 9606, EN Standards and Classification Society requirements.
  • Familiarity with NDT methods including RT, UT, PAUT, TOFD, MT and PT.
  • Experience in welding consumable management and control systems.
  • Ability to perform welding failure investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and engineering software applications.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • CSWIP 3.2.2 Senior Welding Inspector, IWE, IWT or equivalent certification will be an advantage.
