Introduction

On behalf of our client, we're hiring a System Safety Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team in Henderson. You'll apply system safety engineering principles across a range of defence-focused projects, leading hazard analysis and contributing to structured safety deliverables.

What are you going to do

As a System Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for applying safety engineering principles throughout the project lifecycle. You'll facilitate hazard analysis workshops, develop and manage system safety deliverables such as System Safety Program Plans, Hazard Logs, and Safety Case Reports, and liaise directly with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and assurance.

This role involves supporting emerging projects and software tools, training internal personnel, and driving process consistency across the business. You'll contribute to ABMS (Asset and Business Management System) updates and help embed safety thinking into all phases of design and engineering.

Reporting to the Head of Design & Engineering, you will work across both operational and tactical levels, influencing safety outcomes, improving quality processes, and championing continual improvement.

Essential skills and knowledge

The ideal candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in systems engineering or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience applying MIL-STD-882E or equivalent frameworks. You'll bring strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, and ideally have experience in defence acquisition, sustainment, or working within a classification society or seaworthiness framework.

You will have proven capability in hazard identification, workshop delivery, and systems documentation. Your ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively across technical teams will be essential. A BASELINE security clearance (or eligibility to obtain one) is required for this position.

What we offer

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity based in Henderson, WA, offering a competitive salary and long-term career development. You'll be part of a high-calibre team delivering world-class safety engineering solutions for critical defence and marine assets.
