A highly skilled and detail-oriented Machinery Engineer to join quality team in the oil and gas industry.
The Machinery Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the installation, inspection, pre-commissioning, commissioning, integrity and reliability of mechanical equipment and machinery used in upstream and downstream projects.
What are you going to do
This role involves conducting inspections, identifying defects, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, inspection techniques, and a thorough understanding of oil and gas equipment.
Implement the elements of management system applicable to your function.
Ensure all inspections are conducted in accordance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) guidelines.
Perform inspections of machinery and mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, engines, and valves.
Conduct visual, dimensional, and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections to identify wear, corrosion, cracks, and other defects.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., API, ASME, ISO).
Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and maintenance procedures.
Prepare detailed inspection reports, including findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
Collaborate with end-users, maintenance, construction. contractors and engineering teams for inspections and repairs.
Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
Participate in risk assessments and root cause analysis for equipment failures.
Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in machinery inspection.
Co-ordinating / attending the inspection, tests and punch listing on behalf of COMPANY.
Undertake familiarization with Project and discipline specific inspection documentation to ensure understanding of contract requirements.
Implement quality inspection procedures on construction activities, suppliers, subcontractors to ensure compliance to project specification.
Ensure that the documentation generated by the contractor for inspections, tests, surveillance and surveys meets the requirements of the Project Quality Plan, ITPs and project requirement.
Ensure Completion of relevant forms and reports on inspections and tests undertaken by the contractor and maintenance of inspection records.
Ensuring that all equipment used for measuring and testing is in calibration and such records are available.
Perform Surveillance of project site construction activities to identify problems and potential or actual non-conformances and to assist in proposing corrective and preventive actions.
Liaise with other Field Supervisors and Contractor to be aware of planned and completed construction works to ensure NDE is planned and performed.
Assist Sr. QA/QC Engineer in the review/approval of Contractor QA/QC documents such as QCPs, ITPs, WPS/PQRs/ Special Processes / Personnel qualifications, Material Approval Requests, MRBs, Project Dossiers etc.,
Monitor / Witness Contractor's fabrication, installation, inspection and testing activities related to the Structural Steel, Process Piping, Pipelines, tanks, heaters, Rotating Equipment and Static equipment including internals installation and associated preceding and succeeding interface activities.
Witness / verify all inspection and testing activities related to the Welding, NDT, PWHT, Hardness testing, Alloy Verification, painting etc., starting from the procedures / personnel qualification till the respective systems hydro testing and ensure compliance to the project requirements.
Closely monitor the performance of special process and personnel, weld Repairs / NDT status etc., Controls exercised by the contractor and appraise Sr. QA/QC engineer in case of any concerns.
Participate in the receiving inspection of project permanent materials and verification of associated documentation for traceability of Rotating equipment.
Follow-up on Corrective Actions to close-out non-conformances.
Monitor trends of non-compliance to COMPANY requirements and feedback the status of Contractor's performance.
Initiate Surveillance / NCR's for SR. QA/QC Engineer's approval.
Maintaining relevant QA/QC documents / records.
Essential skills and knowledgeÂ
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
In-depth knowledge of oil and gas machinery and equipment.
Familiarity with risk-based inspection (RBI) methodologies.
Familiarity with inspection tools and software (e.g., CMMS, inspection management systems).
Time management skills to meet inspection deadlines.
Physical fitness to perform inspections.
Certifications / Training (Highly Desired):
Familiar with ISO 18436-2 - Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics of Machines.
Knowledge of API 686 - Recommended Practice for Machinery Installation and Installation Design (Highly Recommended)
ASNT Level II or III Certification in NDT methods (UT, MT, PT, RT).
API 510 - Pressure Vessel Inspector Certification.
API 670 - Machinery Protection Systems Certification.
ISO 9001 - Quality Management Systems Certification.
OSHA or NEBOSH Certification in Health and Safety.
15 years' experience in the construction of major Greenfield or Brownfield Process Plants (Refinery, NGL / LNG Plants, Petrochemical complex or similar) in Oil & Gas industry.
Experience in GCC is desirable.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and rotating equipment.
