Introduction

Brunel Energy is hiring a Projects Subcontracts Manager for one of our prestigious clients, a leading Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company in the UAE — for their Onshore/Offshore projects. This is a direct hire/staff position based in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

What are you going to do

  • Direct, lead and execute subcontracts activities for major projects;
  • Supervise a medium-sized team of staff to achieve their responsibilities;
  • Oversee the contract lifecycle for minor and major subcontracting works;
  • Mentor and train junior staff;
  • Recommend modifications to existing contracting and service agreement policies, procedures and systems to enhance their effectiveness in the light of changing requirements;
  • Lead the tendering process to ensure timely execution by assigned employees;
  • Assess the risk exposure of the Company and endorse the pricing strategy agreed with User and applicable for the contract to achieve Company objectives;
  • Evaluate the bids review process to ensure transparent and correct execution;
  • Lead negotiation meetings with bidders and direct the process of bids’ negotiation;
  • Highlight areas of concern in handled tenders, if any, to Subcontracts Manager (SCM) and suggest mitigation criteria;
  • Control the issuance of Fax of Intent to the approved contractor as per Delegation of Authority and plan its execution with relevant parties;
  • Attending tender board meetings for major contracts & services;
  • Motivate employees to enhance their performance, development and productivity;
  • Train and coach junior employees to fulfil their performance requirement;
  • Act as a focal point between all internal parties involved in case of dispute with service providers;
  • Hold discussions with the Subcontracts Manager (SCM) on submitted claims to formulate the best contracting strategy to ensure their timely settlement;
  • Compliance in accordance with HSE standards;
  • Knowledge of subcontract management processes and practices;
  • Experience in contract negotiation and administration;
  • Proficiency in performance monitoring and issue resolution;
  • Understanding of project management principles;
  • Ability to manage subcontractor documentation and records;
  • Familiarity with compliance requirements and regulatory standards;
  • Skilled in cost tracking and budget management;
  • Competence in using subcontract management software;
  • Knowledge of procurement and tendering processes;
  • Ability to assess subcontractor qualifications and performance;
  • Adhere to the Company’s HSE Policy;
  • Follow the HSE Management System procedures and safe working instructions.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in a related discipline, or equivalent;
  • Master’s Degree is preferred;
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are advantageous;
  • Minimum 18 years' experience in the administration of subcontracts/contracts/tenders in Oil & Gas Industry.
