Introduction

Our client, a global operator is searching for a Project Manager to oversee multiple Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plants globally.

Duration: 12 Months (renewable)

What are you going to do

The project focuses on bringing Digital Control Systems (DCS) and PLC architectures into compliance across several CCGT power plants. The key objective is the segregation of Safety and Process Control functions to:

  • Strengthen cybersecurity posture, and

  • Ensure compliance with IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 functional safety standards.

The assignment covers several project phases, starting with a detailed pre-study phase, and leading into tendering and execution preparation for selected pilot sites, with potential rollout to additional plants.

Role Overview

We are looking for a senior Project Manager with strong automation and control systems expertise to lead the pre-study phase and support subsequent project stages.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate an external engineering company during the pre-study phase

  • Interface with power plant teams, central technical functions, and major OEMs (e.g. global DCS and turbine control system suppliers)

  • Provide expert guidance to drive pragmatic, compliant technical solutions while respecting schedule and operational constraints

  • Benchmark similar initiatives implemented by other European CCGT operators

  • Support tendering activities and, when required, contractor mobilization phases

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Minimum 10 years' experience as a Project Manager in instrumentation, automation, or industrial control & safety systems

  • Strong background in DCS, PLCs, and functional safety systems, ideally within power generation or other heavy industries

  • Proven experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder, international projects

  • Excellent analytical skills, rigor, autonomy, and organizational capability

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and synthesis skills, with the ability to maintain a strategic overview

  • Languages: Professional proficiency in English and French
