Brunel Papua New Guinea are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Project Engineer - Tanks to lead a critical program based in Papua New Guinea. This fixed-term contract role is site-based and requires a hands-on leader who can manage the end-to-end lifecycle of aboveground storage tank (AST) inspections, repairs, and replacements in strict accordance with API 653 and API 2650 standards.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring program delivery excellence, contractor management, and stakeholder engagement while upholding the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance. As the Project Engineer, you will take ownership of the API 653 inspection and repair program for site tanks, including baseline, periodic, out-of-service, and in-service inspections. You will prioritise activities based on risk and production impact and develop installation, demolition, and temporary in-service scopes to minimise downtime.
You will translate inspection findings into fit-for-service assessments and repair plans, ensuring robust QA/QC of repairs involving welding procedures, non-destructive testing (NDT), material traceability, and hydrostatic testing. You will lead contractor governance, safety leadership, contract administration, and coordinate closely with Operations, Maintenance, HSE, Supply Chain, Integrity, and Projects teams.
Your role will encompass detailed planning, cost and schedule control, and reporting, including cash forecasting, earned value analysis, and KPI dashboards. You will champion HSE leadership, regulatory compliance with API standards and PNG legislation, and lead incident response activities.
Brunel PNG offers a challenging and rewarding fixed-term contract opportunity for a motivated and experienced Program Manager to lead the API 653 tank repairs and replacement program onsite in Papua New Guinea. We provide competitive remuneration, opportunities for professional development, and the chance to work within a dynamic team committed to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
