Introduction

Join the team at Chevron as a Project Engineer (Ops Science) and play a crucial role in ensuring operational excellence and construction management for the prestigious BWI Project.

This role will lead safety initiatives, drive efficient execution, and collaborate with stakeholders to deploy Operations Science principles.

The Project Engineering will work at Barrow Island on a 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off rotational roster. The successful candidate will be required in Perth for a minimun of 1 month befoe transitioning to site.

What are you going to do

Operational Excellence:

  • Provide support and leadership to achieve an Incident and Injury Free Workplace.
  • Champion workplace safety with a focus on prevent SIFs through visible leadership. Proactively sharelearnings that are related to construction.
  • Ensure that the project adopts safety principles of having safeguards in place that are functioning.

Construction Management:

  • The candidate will need to understand the deliverables required from engineering to drive Efficient Executionfor BWI Execution.
  • Work the risk mitigation plans with the Construction Engineers to ensure cost and schedule risks are managed.
  • Strong communication skills are required to ensure alignment between stakeholders and to provide updatesto the Construction Onsite Lead on cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Support the deployment of fit for purpose work processes, guidelines, policies, and standards that will ensuretechnical superiority, quality of the work product, effective project execution, capital stewardship and
    efficiency.

Operations Science:

  • Incorporation of Operations Science principles and methods into execution plans and work processes through:
  • Work with stakeholders to aid in the development of the 4D Construction Simulation
  • Project System modelling (Procurement, Logistics, Imported Fill, 33kV Cable Installation, stress testing traffic management plan and other areas as identified)
  • Assessment of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) deployment and implementation if deemed suitable andbeneficial to the schedule.
  • Working with Pre-Ops develop the systems completion sequence fish bone early to inform path ofconstruction (integrated with 4D construction simulation)
  • Develop effective site support plans to optimize craft work time on location by identifying previous or currentimpacts, and designing the solution to resolve.
  • Use historical execution data (e.g. Gorgon Foundation, Wheatstone, Technical Projects, etc) to identify roots2/2causes that impact effective execution and implement mitigation plans where possible

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Identification and utilization of CTC Functional or BU support to assist with implementation of effectiveexecution where required.
  • Partner with the execution contractor to manage Work Execution Control. Lead site meeting to optimiseexecution.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Project engineering and construction experience with medium to large capital projects in greenand/or brown field work environment.
  • Broad understanding of various disciplines.
  • Able to engage with high level stakeholders and clearly communicate project value drivers, status and risks
  • Australian full working rights
