Brunel is seeking an experienced Project Controls Lead to provide leadership in cost control, schedule management, progress measurement, and change management for major capital projects. The role ensures effective project control processes, supports decision-making through accurate reporting and forecasting, and promotes capital efficiency across the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Provide timely and accurate data and deliverables for benchmarking, tool building, and project reporting.
Lead overall project cost, schedule, progress measurement, and change management activities.
Support Project Teams with cost and schedule analysis, reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
Develop and maintain Project Controls Plans and Management of Change (MOC) Plans.
Establish and lead monthly cost and schedule stewardship reviews, ensuring adherence to stewardship processes.
Coordinate estimating, planning, and cost control activities, communicating priorities to the project team.
Maintain Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS), Original Control Budget (OCB), Current Control Budget (CCB), Project Master Schedule, and Planning & Budgeting systems.
Collect, analyze, and report project cost and schedule information to identify potential problem areas; prepare cost and schedule forecasts.
Administer and facilitate the Management of Change process and Capital Efficiency reviews.
Interface with controllers regarding AFEs/budgets, invoices, and development of Work-In-Place.
Participate in bid evaluations, contract price budgets, contract control schedules, and milestone development.
Ensure project controls teams are familiar with contractor payment terms and contract coordination procedures.
Lead preparation for Gate Reviews, Advance Commitment, Full Funding, or Supplement activities.
Develop cost and schedule estimates, Estimate Confidence Packages, and Estimate Development Plans.
Respond to ad hoc requests from the Project Management Team related to controls and reporting.
Support consortium, affiliate, and joint venture presentations.
Perform quality assurance by monitoring contractor performance in cost control, progress measurement, and schedule management.
Review and endorse contractor-prepared schedules, progress measures, cost baselines, and change proposals.
Assist site management in developing corrective actions and recovery plans; ensure implementation.
Manage the Cost and Schedule organization including contractor sites, serving as the central link between project and organization.
Provide mentorship and feedback to project controls engineers and planners.
Ensure functional alignment and approval of key deliverables (e.g., Estimate Confidence Packages).
Drive and promote capital efficiency across stewarded projects.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management.
Proven experience in project controls with a focus on cost and schedule management.
Supervisory experience required.
Project management certifications preferred (e.g., PMI, AACE, Primavera).
Willingness to work overseas and relocate to project sites as required.
Knowledge of company project management frameworks and key work processes.
Demonstrated ability to drive creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement.
