Introduction

Brunel Papua New Guinea (PNG) is seeking a skilled and motivated Paste Plant Foreman to join our dynamic team. Reporting directly to the Process Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the technical performance, optimisation, and reliability of our paste plant operations.

What are you going to do

As the Paste Plant Foreman, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational and technical oversight of the Paste Plant circuits. Your primary focus will be on maintaining paste quality, rheology, and delivery parameters that meet underground fill requirements. You will provide leadership and coaching to supervisors, operators, and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing operational and technical support to ensure production targets are met safely and efficiently.
  • Coaching, training, and developing site personnel in adherence to safe operating procedures.
  • Monitoring process conditions, troubleshooting deviations, and coordinating corrective actions to maintain plant stability and product quality.
  • Supporting operator training programs, competency assessments, and ongoing skills development.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Managing metallurgical, geotechnical, and operational parameters to achieve optimal paste quality.
  • Maintaining paste density, solids content, and binder ratios to meet underground fill strength and flow requirements.
  • Investigating process deviations, quality issues, and equipment performance concerns.
  • Reviewing, updating, and maintaining standard operating procedures and operating guidelines (TARP).
  • Consolidating optimisation recommendations from historical circuit SME reviews.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to reduce variability, enhance throughput, and optimise binder consumption.
  • Developing and delivering technical training modules to strengthen site capabilities.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Proven experience in paste plant operations, processing, or related roles within the mining or mineral processing industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of paste quality parameters, process optimisation, and plant reliability.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop teams.
  • Competence in troubleshooting process deviations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with metallurgical and geotechnical aspects related to paste fill.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures and training materials.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in process engineering, metallurgy, or related discipline will be highly regarded.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to adhere to Brunel's policies and procedures.
