The Optimization Engineer is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing optimization opportunities to improve operational efficiency, performance, reliability, and profitability.
The role involves analyzing complex data, developing models, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to optimize processes, systems, and workflows while ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
What are you going to do
Identify and evaluate optimization opportunities across operations, processes, or systems to enhance performance, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
Develop, maintain, and apply optimization models, simulations, and analytical tools to support operational and strategic decision‑making.
Analyze real‑time and historical data to detect inefficiencies, performance gaps, and improvement areas.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend corrective actions to ensure optimal performance.
Support operational troubleshooting by performing root cause analysis and proposing sustainable solutions.
Collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance, planning, and commercial teams to implement optimization initiatives.
Conduct techno‑economic evaluations to assess feasibility, risks, and benefits of optimization projects.
Ensure all optimization activities comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Prepare technical reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and optimization methodologies.
Essential skills and knowledge
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Petroleum, Industrial, or related discipline).
Master's degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, or Operations Research is an advantage.
Relevant professional certifications or specialized training in optimization, process engineering, or data analytics are a plus.
Strong knowledge of optimization techniques, process improvement, and system performance analysis.
Experience with modeling, simulation, or optimization software/tools.
Ability to analyze large data sets and convert insights into actionable recommendations.
Understanding of operational workflows, engineering systems, and industry standards.
