Introduction

Brunel is currently searching for an experienced Mining Study Manager to lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering Scoping, Pre-Feasibility (PFS), and Feasibility Studies (FS) for a new greenfield mining project located in Nevada. With exploration permits in place, this new gold project will advance to an open pit mine.

What are you going to do

This role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of technical studies, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget, while integrating technical, environmental, permitting, and financial inputs to maximize project value. The successful candidate will coordinate internal teams and external consultants, maintain alignment with the permitting process, and prepare study outcomes that support investment and development decisions.

The Study Manager will act as the custodian of the project design, ensuring design decisions are consistent across technical studies, permitting requirements, and future development planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Study & Project Management:

  • Lead and manage all phases of project studies, including Scoping, Pre-Feasibility, and Feasibility Studies.
  • Develop and manage study scope, schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
  • Ensure studies are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
  • Drive consultant performance to meet schedule, cost, and technical objectives.

Technical Integration & Project Design:

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including mining, metallurgy, processing, geotechnical, environmental, and engineering consultants.
  • Maintain ownership of the overall project design, ensuring technical alignment across all study disciplines.
  • Conduct trade-off studies, design reviews, and optimization exercises to enhance project value.
  • Interface closely with the exploration team to integrate geological understanding and potential resource upside into site layout and long-term planning.

Permitting & Environmental Coordination:

  • Work closely with the environmental and permitting teams to ensure project design and permitting processes remain aligned.
  • Provide technical input to support permitting applications and regulatory discussions.
  • Participate in regulatory engagement where design decisions may impact permitting outcomes.

Stakeholder & Consultant Management:

  • Manage relationships with external consultants, contractors, and technical advisors.
  • Coordinate and host site visits for consultants, contractors, and technical specialists.
  • Present study progress, risks, and results to senior management and stakeholders.

Reporting & Investment Support:

  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive monthly study reports and investment documentation.
  • Integrate CAPEX/OPEX estimates, financial modeling inputs, and project execution considerations.
  • Ensure studies comply with industry reporting standards and regulatory frameworks, particularly Canada's 43-101 technical report regime.

Development Readiness:

  • Identify and define Owner's Scope activities required to advance the project toward development.
  • Support early planning for project execution, infrastructure, and operational readiness.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in mining project development, technical studies, or project management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Scoping, PFS, or FS studies.
  • Experience with heap leach project development, ideally including operations, construction, or expansion.
  • Strong understanding of mining engineering principles and feasibility study methodologies.
  • Experience with CAPEX estimation, cost control, budgeting, and schedule management.
  • Solid knowledge of technical reporting standards such as NI 43-101.
  • Familiarity with mining software tools and Microsoft Office.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage external consultants.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong capability in technical reporting and updates.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship.
