Introduction

What are you going to do

  • Develop and research the relationships of organisms in the marine environment;
  • Liaise with Environmental Consultants in the implementation of artificial reefs, coral relocation and other marine habitat compensation program requirements;
  • Advise the Project team for the implementation of artificial reefs, coral relocation and other marine habitat compensation requirements;
  • This position assists in the implementation of Artificial Reef Program;
  • Analyze the effect of anthropogenic activities on marine ecosystems;
  • Collect biological data and specimens to analyze;
  • Monitor and manage wildlife populations and invasive plants and animals;
  • Develop conservation plans and recommendations to the Company and Project management;
  • Studying the effects of pollution on marine life and aquatic habitats;
  • Monitors the health of corals that were translocated or in artificial reefs or other habitats that were compensated (if necessary);
  • The specialist performs work in both the office and at field locations;
  • Assist in conducting meetings with Environmental Consultant, Service Providers that will implement the artificial reef programs and other habitat compensation programs that will be required by the Company;
  • Support the Management of the Company to achieve and maintain business excellence in the field of environment management particularly in marine sciences and marine ecology during the preparation and delivery of projects (e.g., artificial reefs and habitat compensation strategies), and to ensure the minimum impact and maximum protection of the project surrounding environment, taking into account interest of customers, board of management, Abu Dhabi community and Company employees.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • BS in Marine Biology;
  • Masters in Marine Biology (preferred but not required);
  • Minimum 5‐7 years relevant experience;
  • Further studies and experience in the area of marine biology and marine construction;
  • Technical certificates in Environment management;
  • Knowledge of International and Local applicable environmental laws and regulations;
  • Certified Diver;
  • Valid UAE Driver’s License.
