Brunel is recruiting a Senior Instrumentation / I&E Planner - Maintenance & Operations Support to wok in Sabine Pass, TX for initially 1 year contract.

Schedule: 5/40 (Monday-Friday)

Per Diem: Not available - Local candidates only

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation / I&E Planner to support our client's team in Sabine Pass. This role is critical to ensuring instrumentation maintenance programs are properly scoped, planned, and scheduled using SAP, with a strong emphasis on reliability, safety, and compliance.

The successful candidate will have an extensive background in instrumentation and controls, combined with deep experience in maintenance planning in SAP.

Responsibilities:

  • Instrumentation Planning & Scheduling
  • Develop and maintain detailed maintenance plans for instrumentation and low-voltage (≤120V) I&E systems.
  • Plan preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to support asset reliability.
  • Build, prioritize, and manage work orders in SAP (PM/MM modules).
  • Coordinate instrumentation work schedules with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams.
  • Create comprehensive job packages including task lists, diagrams, tools, permits, scaffolding, manpower, and material requirements.
  • Verify readiness of materials and coordinate staging with supply chain/vendor support.
  • Serve as the second-line point of contact before engineering - translating technical requirements into actionable job plans.
  • Provide field support for troubleshooting and reliability issues in instrumentation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with site HSE procedures, PHMSA requirements, and relevant industry standards (ISA, NEC).
  • Track and analyze backlog, KPIs, deviations, and schedule compliance in SAP.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate maintenance programs and optimize execution strategies.
  • Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring I&E issues.
  • Assist in long-term planning, including TAR/Outage preparation and multi-year maintenance lookaheads.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training in Instrumentation / I&E trades strongly preferred.
  • Engineering degree not required.
  • 7-10 years recent years of Instrumentation Planning experience in Oil & Gas/Petrochem facilities
  • 10-20 years of hands-on Instrumentation / I&E experience in Oil & Gas, LNG, or Petrochemical facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of I&E maintenance processes, job pack development, and scheduling best practices.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Extensive SAP planning and scheduling expertise.
  • Strong working knowledge of field instrumentation, analyzers, transmitters, PLC/DCS interfaces, and low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and reporting tools.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Prometheus, Primavera P6, or MS Project.
  • Previous Oil & Gas OR LNG facility maintenance planning experience.
  • Familiarity with PHMSA pipeline regulations and/or gas compression equipment.
