Introduction

We are representing a tier one mining business seeking an experienced Heritage Field Supervisor to support cultural heritage survey delivery across the Pilbara. This field-focused, initial 6-month contract involves remote travel, stakeholder coordination and hands-on supervision of survey activities on an 8:6 roster. Candidates must be residentially based in Dampier or Karratha, with no FIFO option available.

What are you going to do

Reporting to the Superintendent Heritage Fieldwork, you will be responsible for facilitating the safe and effective delivery of cultural heritage field survey programs.

This role would suit a confident field leader who enjoys working outdoors, has strong safety leadership skills, and can coordinate people, logistics and project requirements in remote environments. You will work closely with internal teams, contractors, Traditional Owners and external stakeholders to ensure survey activities are delivered safely, respectfully and in line with required systems, procedures and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising heritage field survey teams, including contractors and Traditional Owners
  • Supporting the safe delivery of in-field cultural heritage survey works
  • Managing contractors involved in the heritage survey program
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Preparing, managing and implementing initial response plans and journey management plans
  • Ensuring field activities are conducted in line with safety systems, processes and critical risk management requirements
  • Maintaining cultural heritage fieldwork equipment, assets and fleet
  • Supporting social surrounds, archaeological, ethnographic, botanical and environmental survey works involving Traditional Owner groups
  • Coaching survey participants in line with HSEC and cultural heritage procedures
  • Bringing together people, logistics and project requirements to support successful field delivery

Essential skills and knowledge 

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring:

  • A strong commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory field-based role
  • Sound field safety knowledge and experience working in remote environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills
  • The ability to bring multiple stakeholders together to deliver project outcomes
  • A genuine interest in working respectfully with Traditional Owners
  • The ability to travel remotely, work in hot conditions and complete physically demanding field tasks
  • A current Manual C Class driver's licence
  • you must have current right to work in Australia to be considered for this role

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • 4WD accreditation
  • GIS or navigation skills
