Introduction

Brunel is seeking a skilled and adaptable Electrical Engineer to support the maintenance, optimization, and troubleshooting of Raisebore drill equipment across our clients projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose and resolve PLC and software-related issues in the field.

What are you going to do 

  • Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems for industrial, commercial, or domestic purposes.
  • Performing a wide range of engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment.
  • Conferring with customers, engineers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products or projects.
  • Ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications, technical drawings, or topographical maps.
  • Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations.
  • Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.
  • Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies.
  • Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.
  • Estimating material, labor, or construction costs for bidding or budget preparation.
  • Working with a variety of technicians.
  • Provide project management leadership and/or act as the lead on studies and projects.
  • Provide technical support to the operations group;
  • Develop or bring forward, as appropriate, industry best practices and new technologies.
  • Prepare and review project proposals, studies and technical reports.
  • Liaise with consultants, contractors, vendors and other stakeholders on a technical level and present reports, publications and presentations in a professional manner.
  • Travel to site, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required by your Supervisor.
  • Duties outlined herein are intended to be the minimum duties expected of you by the Company.   • You are expected to devote your best efforts to advance the interests of the Company and, to that end, perform your duties to the best of your skill and ability, and to perform such work as may be required of you by the Shareholder.
  • This is a hybrid role consisting of remote, office, and site-based work that requires occasional travel and hands-on problem-solving in dynamic underground environments. Remote candidates will be considered.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Industrial Automation, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in an industrial or mining environment, preferably working with heavy equipment or underground machinery.
  • Strong understanding of PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms).
  • Working knowledge of electrical schematics, control systems, and software interfaces.
  • Comfortable working in underground environments and travelling to remote job sites on a rotational or as-needed basis.
  • Ability to obtain or currently holds a U.S. work visa is a strong asset.
