Introduction

  • The HUC Structural Lead shall provide oversight and direction to the project’s main Contractor during the offshore hook-up and commissioning stages.
  • Effectively collaborates and interfaces with the HUC team, facilities team, contractor and operations personnel.
  • Providing technical guidance and expertise on structural principles, codes, standards, lift plans and coverage for workshops, inspections, site testing and lifting operations.
  • Support the change management process for HUC execution strategies.
  • Supervise the review and approval of contractor procedures, ensuring accurate documentation of redlines throughout construction, hook-up, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases.
  • Support readiness for asset handover to the Operations Team.
  • Function as the HUC Structural Lead for the design, risk-based evaluation of technical issues, ensuring detailed design deliverables are compliant with project requirements and contract while meeting required LNG quality expectations.
  • Supervise and coordinate the delivery of HUC deliverables in accordance with project requirements from contractor.
  • Function as the Structural HUC expert providing oversight of project documentation and Lifting Operations.
  • Conduct analysis of technical proposals, proposed deviations, assess exceptions and redlines to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and the design intent.
  • Act as structural focal point at discipline site testing, FATs and SATs to verify they comply with project deliverables and requirements on lifting and certification of lifting devices/equipment.

What are you going to do

  • Support PMT by reviewing critical documents and reports generated by the main subcontractor. Attend workshops/review meetings when requested.
  • Analyze technical proposals and proposed deviations, assess exceptions and new technologies to ensure compliance with LNG policies and procedures.
  • Apply lessons learned from previous projects and share new ones with other contractors.
  • Support the qualifications of new suppliers proposed for the project, suppliers that are not on the approved vendor’s list.
  • Assesses Contractor’s manpower loading, providing timely recommendations to project team and be available to backfill needs as required.
  • Support the project team to stay on schedule to meet all critical milestones (long lead item (LLI) procurement, engineered equipment procurement; required on site (ROS) dates, etc.); develop and stewards recovery plans to address any schedule delays.
  • Witnesses Contractors scope of work and signs off test and check sheets as per project requirements.
  • Verify that the Contractor’s reports are accurate with regards to progress reporting.
  • Cooperate with review teams and take part in quality audit activities throughout the project.
  • Report findings accurately and provide a plan to address issues when required.
  • Oversee all aspects of lifting operations, planning, rigging design, lift plan development, lift execution and supervision.
  • Verification of lift equipment certifications and personnel competencies.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelors Degree in Sciences or Engineering.
  • 8 years’ experience with large project construction the Oil & Gas Industry, including 1 year of experience in a supervisory role, including acting roles, or oversight of service/vendor personnel.
  • Knowledge and experience in discipline Hook-Up and Commissioning delivery processes and associated project phases, familiar with completions walkdowns and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
  • Experience with Oil and Gas companies, contractors, service companies, or heavy construction companies.
  • Expert in reading Datasheets, General Arrangement drawings and procedures. Development of procedures as required.
  • Knowledge of structural design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria related to major fabrication, transport, installation, brownfield execution, and hook-up, as applicable to the project scope.
  • Knowledge in projects execution, engineering, operations, pre-commissioning, commissioning and systems completion.
  • Knowledge in compliance with contract requirements including codes and standards, and contract technical specification compliance.
  • Knowledge of offshore facilities and structures, onshore facilities, or yard operations as applicable to a project scope.
  • Experience with vendors operating in the LNG industry, such as compressors, power generation, control systems, topsides, etc.
  • Knowledge of execution methods and risks associated with sour gas and LNG production facilities.
  • Experience working in large scale operating organizations in Operations, Projects, Subsurface, etc.
  • Experience in start-up support to Operation.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, coordination, planning, interface and technical judgment skills.
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
  • Able to identify and analyze complex issues and provide recommendations. Prepare contingency plans for unexpected scope changes (pro-active, forward-looking)
  • Execute work in full compliance with LNG Standards of Business Conduct and LNG Project Management System.
