Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the commissioning strategy, plan, and schedule in line with project objectives.
  • Lead the commissioning team (engineers, supervisors, specialists, contractors), assign tasks, and manage performance.
  • Coordinate interfaces between construction, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Oversee system and equipment pre-commissioning, cold commissioning, hot commissioning, and system integration tests (e.g., topside process, utilities, power, HVAC, firewater, ballast/ballast control, safety systems, cargo handling, marine systems).
  • Verify mechanical completion and punch-list closure; ensure commissioning readiness and witness testing.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE, quality, and regulatory requirements; lead safety briefings and risk assessments.
  • Manage commissioning resources, materials, spares, tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Resolve technical and operational issues, escalate when required, and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation: procedures, checklists, test packs, reports, turnover certificates, and handover packages.
  • Liaise with client representatives, Operations, and third-party vendors during commissioning and start-up.
  • Track commissioning progress, report status, and contribute to commissioning close-out and lessons learned.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Qualifications & experience

  • Degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 12+ years' offshore/international oil & gas experience with significant FPSO commissioning exposure; 5+ years in a leadership role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of FPSO systems, marine interfaces, topside process, and subsea tie-ins.
  • Proven experience in mechanical completion, commissioning procedures, testing, and start-up.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, planning, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Familiar with relevant codes, standards, and HSE practices.
