Introduction

Brunel Energy is looking for a Assistant Manager – Pipe Shop with one of our client in UAE. We are a leading provider of Engineering and Technical Services to the Oil and Gas Industry.

What are you going to do 

  • Follows all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner;
  • Ensure employees are aware and follow the information security rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information/intellectual properties;
  • Supervises the day-to-day operations of the pipe department to ensure that work processes are implemented as designed and comply with established policies, processes and procedures;
  • Having health and safety as the first priority on daily activities;
  • Reviews, approves and follows up project programmes and take appropriate measures where required for contractual delivery of projects;
  • Research and development of new work techniques and technologies related to pipe fabrication and welding, including improvement of documentation process flow for the department;
  • Receiving from the Department Manager and execution of any work-related instructions;
  • Substitution of the Department Manager during his absence, when appointed so;
  • Definition of the priorities for the daily work processes of the department;
  • Liaison with other trades, Ship Repair Managers, Superintendents ensuring smooth workflow on projects;
  • Inspection of work sites inside the department (workshop, offices) and on board in order to make sure resources are optimized;
  • Raise Occurrence Reports and approve repair methods for rejected work;
  • Approve Material Requisitions;
  • Stop the process if running Quality standards are not met;
  • Responsible for complying with relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls and to behave in a manner which ensures that their actions or omissions do not adversely affect the environment, health, safety and wellbeing of themselves, colleagues, contractors or members of the public;
  • Meeting all responsibilities as outlined in the Company OHSMS;
  • Participating in any training and safety initiatives implemented by the Company;
  • Complying with all Safety directives and work instructions;
  • Immediately reporting any incident or potential hazard to their Supervisor or Safety Dept;
  • STOP the task if you feel yourself or others may be harmed;
  • Ensuring that all work is properly planned, communicated and executed safely;
  • Advise workers on potential Health and Safety hazards and their controls;
  • Conducting regular inspections of work areas to identify and eliminate hazardous conditions and practices;
  • Reporting to Line Manager/Safety Inspector promptly regarding incidents, hazards, unsafe plant, equipment or other safety concerns;
  • STOP any worker performing an unsafe act and reinforce positive attitude amongst work force;
  • Contributes to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement;
  • Prepare departmental reports on time and accurately to meet company and department requirements, policies and standards;
  • Perform other related duties or assignments as directed in order to contribute to the continuous operations of the department.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Graduate in Engineering Discipline;
  • Strong piping constructions management skills, familiar with international piping codes and standards;
  • Proven strong leadership quality and exceptional understanding of the other discipline like Electrical/Instrumentation, Mechanical and Structural activities point of view;
  • Strong construction planning skills & monitoring skills;
  • 10 years significant experience in the field of shipyard, refinery plant, oil & gas offshore experience related to piping constructions;
  • An experienced leader, motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills able to control multinational workforce in a dynamic situation;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Very good knowledge in technical terms and report writing skills;
  • Knowledge of additional languages is an added advantage;
  • Commands respects of his workforce and develop excellent working relationship with all concerned and encourage team working with the Contractor and other customer groups to achieve set targets;
  • Able to give instructions in an efficient and effective way to other departments/teams;
  • Able to demonstrate good organizational skills, follow polices procedures and best work practices;
  • Safety, quality and environment consciousness;
  • Possess cultural awareness & sensitivity and be flexible and demonstrate sound work ethics;
  • Solution oriented and demonstrated creative & critical thinking;
  • Time Management skills;
  • Practical/goal-oriented/quality- and results-oriented attitude;
