Introduction
We're hiring an intermediate Accountant for our global mining client to join their team! You will be responsible for supporting a growing finance team with core accounting and reporting activities, playing a key role in the month‑end close process, financial analysis, and reconciliations. This position is hybrid working 3 days in the office and 2 days from home and will be a contract to permanent opportunity.
What are you going to do
- Support monthly and quarterly accounting close activities
- Prepare and post journal entries in line with accounting policies
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances
- Analyze financial and operational data and summarize results for management
- Assist with internal and external financial reporting
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies
- Assist with audits and respond to information requests
- Contribute to ad hoc projects and other accounting tasks as needed
Essential skills and knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA is an asset
