Sustainability at Brunel

At Brunel, we see sustainability as taking responsibility for the impact we create today and the future we help build.

Every day, we connect specialists with industries that are building the future, from renewable energy and infrastructure to life sciences and technology. That responsibility comes with a clear commitment: to operate responsibly, support our people, and contribute positively to the communities and environments where we work. Our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) approach helps guide these choices, ensuring we create long-term value for our clients, our specialists, and society.

Our ESG Approach

Our ESG strategy focuses on three key areas: supporting a more sustainable planet, creating better futures for professionals, and helping clients move forward in the energy transition. These priorities reflect our commitment to responsible business practices and align with several United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals, including climate action, responsible consumption and production, quality education, and lifelong learning.

Build a better planet for our future professionals

Together with the Brunel Foundation, we are driving initiatives that restore ecosystems, reduce environmental impact, and promote responsible resource use.

  • Growing the Brunel Foundation Forest by planting 20,000 trees across Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Ecuador, Kenya, Madagascar, and Bhutan. Each tree represents a specialist in Brunel’s global network and can be digitally tracked to see how it grows, how much carbon it captures and the farmer who planted it.

  • Stopping plastic pollution through initiatives such as Trash ‘n Trace, helping remove waste before it reaches rivers and oceans.

  • Reducing our environmental footprint, supporting greener operations, and contributing to cleaner environments in the communities where we work.

Build a better future for professionals

People are at the center of what we do. We create opportunities for specialists and communities to grow, develop future-ready skills, and succeed in inclusive and supportive workplaces.

  • Investing in continuous development and upskilling, helping specialists build the capabilities needed for emerging technologies and future industry challenges.

  • Creating inclusive workplaces where diversity, inclusion, and belonging are part of everyday practice, supported by Brunel’s Global DIB Policy and regional leadership initiatives.

  • Opening pathways to employment for people with autism, helping individuals unlock their talents and and access inclusive employment opportunities.

Supporting clients with the energy transition

To accelerate our impact in renewable energy, we strengthened our capabilities through the acquisition of Taylor Hopkinson in 2021, a specialist recruitment partner to the renewable energy sector.

  • With our global footprint and Taylor Hopkinson's deep sector expertise, we support clients across the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects- from offshore and onshore wind to solar, energy storage, and green hydrogen.
  • Together, we connect our global network of specialists to complex energy and infrastructure projects, helping organisations scale sustainable energy solutions responsibly.

Responsible Governance

At Brunel, integrity and accountability shape how we work with clients, suppliers, specialists and the communities around us. Through strong governance frameworks and clear reporting structures, we maintain high ethical standards and ensure compliance with environmental, social and regulatory requirements across the regions where we operate. This commitment allows us to deliver reliable services to our clients while creating meaningful career opportunities for specialists.
