Introduction

Brunel is partnering with a Tier 1 mining client to source a highly experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer for a site-based role supporting the delivery of fixed plant infrastructure on a major resources project in Western Australia.

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing mechanical installation, testing, quality assurance, and commissioning. You'll play a critical role in ensuring all systems are delivered safely, to spec, and ready for operational handover.

What are you going to do 

  • Lead all mechanical works across fixed plant construction and commissioning phases
  • Oversee installation and mechanical completion of crushers, conveyors, mills, pumps, and other infrastructure
  • Manage inspections, punchlisting, QA/QC, and system handover to operations
  • Interface with construction, commissioning, operations, and vendor teams to resolve technical issues
  • Ensure safety, compliance, and engineering standards are maintained at all stages of delivery
  • Contribute to planning and support startup of mechanical systems

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering
  • Considerable experience in mining, heavy industry, or large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Proven site-based experience during opersations.
  • Knowledge of iron ore process infrastructure including conveyors, crushers, mills, etc
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • FIFO roster experience in remote locations
