Introduction

We are seeking a motivated High Voltage Electrician on a 6-month contract, FIFO from Perth on a 2/2 roster, to join a high-performing maintenance team at a major Pilbara iron ore operation. This role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HV systems, instrumentation, VSDs, and general electrical equipment throughout the processing plant, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

What are you going to do 

As a High Voltage Electrician, you will play a key role in keeping the processing plant running safely and efficiently. You will carry out high voltage switching, electrical maintenance, and instrumentation work across the plant, ensuring equipment reliability and supporting production. The role provides the opportunity to apply your expertise, improve plant performance, and contribute to safe work practices, including responsibilities such as:

  • Perform high voltage maintenance and HV switching operations, including isolation, testing and restoration of HV systems

  • Fault-find, diagnose and repair HV and LV electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, protection relays, cabling and power distribution equipment
  • Maintain, fault-find and support instrumentation systems and field devices across the processing plant
  • Carry out maintenance and troubleshooting of variable speed drives (VSDs) and associated motor control systems
  • Complete planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance across industrial processing plant infrastructure
  • Undertake general electrical installation, repair and upgrade works throughout the plant
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with statutory requirements, site procedures and electrical standards
  • Complete permits, logbooks and isolation documentation as required
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, safety interactions and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with fixed plant maintenance teams and other trade disciplines to support production targets
  • Maintain tools, test equipment and documentation in a safe, compliant and serviceable condition

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Electrical Trade Qualification
  • Current Western Australia Electrical Licence (Unrestricted)
  • Certificate IV in Instrumentation
  • HV Switching Operator certificate
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Current CPR/ LVR certificate
  • Working at Heights (preferred)
  • Valid Australian Drivers Licence (C class)
  • Demonstrated electrical experience working in processing facilities
  • Full Australian Working Rights
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and zero harm
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
