Technical Authority for Materials related matters for all Projects.
Oversee technical quality, material processing, material qualification, failure investigation, root cause analysis and material testing during the procurement, manufacturing, fabrication, delivery and installation of equipment and metallic goods (i.e., pipeline, etc.) and during land construction in support of all Major Projects.
As a competent expert and Technical Authority in Materials, has a very crucial role for all LNG projects to ensure the integrity of upstream and downstream facilities to support the State of Qatar fulfil its global commitment to Supply LNG and local commitment to supply pipeline gas.
Has expertise in material selection and performance, particularly in extreme conditions.
Responsible for mitigating corrosion, preventing failures, and optimizing material selection to ensure reliability and safety of equipment and infrastructure.
Directly impacts the performance and lifespan of LNG critical upstream and downstream equipment and systems, which is exposed to harsh environment (e.g., H2s, CO2, CL, etc.) and extreme temperatures and pressures, rendering the role essential for preventing catastrophic failures and essential for optimizing project and lifecycle operational costs.
What are you going to do
Develop and maintain the specifications and standards for materials used Projects.
Assist in the design and development of new equipment and infrastructures and provide technical guidance and support to staff involved in materials selection and proper use.
Coordinate all technical quality related material science and metallurgical related efforts during the procurement of fabrication services and the procurement, manufacturing, delivery, installation of tangible goods and equipment for Major Projects.
Responsible for choosing the right materials for processes and component.
Lead technical analyses to determine the most effective materials for a given application and to ensure that these materials meet safety, performance and quality standards.
Design and execute product development trials utilizing design of experiment (DoE) principles.
Lead qualification programs of new mills and materials.
Lead and conduct metallurgical investigations and root cause analyses and identify and solve materials related issues that arise during project execution.
Review non-conformances, technical queries, standard deviation requests and product / component issues.
Monitor and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations related to materials use in the oil and gas industry.
Essential skills and knowledgeÂ
Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering specializing in Materials Discipline
8 years of metallurgical/material related experience in the oil and gas industry with some experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or construction, some Project Experience and at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial positions.
Experience in developing Project basis and requirements for Materials discipline areas (material selection, raw materials, welding, manufacturing, inspection, fabrication, coatings, corrosion, etc.)
Working knowledge of codes and standards relating to the subject discipline in the oil and gas industry
Strong understanding of project phases, engineering, execution, and delivery, with demonstrated experience in project technical roles and experience of developing and implementing project processes and procedures
Strong discipline technical and leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively navigate complex stakeholder dynamics
Mentorship and/or coaching experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills, with ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
Strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated experience in auditing, assessment, and review of manufacturing, fabrication, and Projects.
Member of an international institution specializing in material science related topics.
Formal courses in ISO9001/API Q1/AQPI Q2 Quality Management Systems, ASNT Non-Destructive Testing, Pipeline, topsides or downstream equipment material design, NACE Corrosion Engineering, Quality System Documentation and Continual Improvement Processes.
