Introduction

Brunel has partnered with a resources sector leader to offer an exciting contract opportunity for a Senior Software Developer, based in the CBD.

About this role

This is an upcoming opportunity for a senior backend engineer to join a team working on complex, high-availability software used in operational environments. The work involves building services that sit at the core of a distributed platform, handling real-time data, orchestration, and system-to-system communication across multiple runtime contexts.

As a senior contributor, you will take ownership of complex technical work, influence engineering standards, and support the growth of other developers through mentoring and technical leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing backend services that support complex workflows and integrations.
  • Taking ownership of technically challenging work, including ambiguous or poorly defined problem spaces
  • Improving existing services through refactoring, performance tuning, and better observability
  • Working closely with other engineers and technical leads to align implementations with broader system direction
  • Reviewing code and contributing to shared engineering standards and practices
  • Identifying risks or constraints early and helping the team navigate them pragmatically.

Is this you?

  • Strong development background building backend systems in production environments.
  • Strong C# / .NET Core experience, including API and service development.
  • Experience working with relational databases.
  • Familiarity with event driven or message-based systems.
  • Comfortable maintaining automated test frameworks and CI pipelines.
  • Exposure to containerised deployments and microservice architectures
