Introduction

Brunel are partnered with a leading resource company and seeking a Senior .NET Developer. This role is a great opportunity for a Senior Developer with optimisation experience who can turn mathematical models into reliable, production-grade systems.

About this role

This role suits a senior backend engineer who can build high-performance .NET services and apply optimisation thinking to real operational problems. You'll work closely with domain experts and architects to improve task assignment and optimisation capability within an established product suite, with a strong focus on scalability, quality, and practical delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and enhance an assignment engine that allocates tasks to autonomous assets using real-time inputs and optimisation techniques.
  • Translate operational needs into clear algorithm specifications and production-ready implementations.
  • Tackle optimisation challenges such as reducing idle time, improving routing, and balancing asset utilisation.
  • Develop reusable optimisation components and libraries (NuGet packages).
  • Support and mentor other engineers, sharing patterns across optimisation and backend engineering.
  • Contribute to technical decisions, balancing algorithm quality with delivery pragmatism.

Is this you?

  • Bachelor's or Higher degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related field - or equivalent industry experience.
  • 7+ years of software development experience, with at least 3 years focused on optimisation algorithms, ideally in autonomous systems or logistics.
  • Understanding of mathematical optimisation techniques.
  • Strong proficiency in C# and .NET, with proven experience implementing mathematical models in production-grade software.
  • Familiarity with real-time systems, microservices, and asynchronous processing to handle dynamic data inputs from mining operations.
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain technical and mathematical concepts to a mixed audience.
