Introduction

Brunel is seeking a Procurement Specialist who will be instrumental in advancing our client's services and materials strategies to maximize long‑term value for their polyethylene (PE) products. The successful candidate will collaborate within a team of Procurement Specialists to drive short‑ to long‑term strategies that increase hard and soft value, with decisions anchored in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) across the organization.

About this role

  • Support development of enterprise‑wide category strategies to achieve cost savings, value generation, and improved quality/service levels by identifying opportunities such as product standardization, supplier consolidation, and leveraging initiatives.
  • Provide negotiating and contracting leadership for strategic materials and services contracts to meet business needs.
  • Develop competitive bid documents (RFx) in collaboration with business and content experts, aligned to agreed contracting strategies.
  • Oversee spend activity and purchase requests for assigned categories; determine appropriate sourcing path (strategic vs. tactical vs. user‑direct).
  • Serve as category subject‑matter expert and seek functional expertise when required.
  • Drive procurement best practices and process standardization for assigned categories.
  • Manage competitive market data for benchmarking and analysis; establish systems to track and record contractor performance.
  • Communicate market trends, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders; co‑develop mitigation strategies for identified vulnerabilities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business groups for specifications and demand planning.
  • Collaborate with Category Managers to maintain strong supply‑market insight and contribute to innovative, win‑win strategies.
  • Lead cross‑functional teams to execute strategic sourcing projects, including strategy, negotiations, supplier selection, and contract execution.
  • Execute Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) processes including governance, performance management, and supplier development.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance supplier performance, innovation, and value while reducing costs.
  • Identify supplier‑driven value opportunities and recommend actions to stakeholders.
  • Participate/lead category management initiatives that maximize profitability and execute sourcing strategies as needed.

Is this you?

  • Bachelor's in Supply Chain or Business Management with 8+ years related experience and progressive professional development OR 12+ years combined education/experience.
  • Experience in procurement of Materials and Services in manufacturing/construction; categories may include MRO, Capital Equipment, Professional Services, Responsible Care, Construction & Maintenance.
  • Professional designation such as C.P.M., PMP, CSCMP (or equivalent).
  • Expertise in Strategic Sourcing, Performance Measurement, Contract Negotiation, Project Management, Category Management, SRM.
  • Proficiency in SAP‑Ariba, e‑sourcing tools, and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Strong ability to develop category and sourcing strategies, lead cross‑functional teams, and manage procurement spend.
  • Experience maintaining strong supplier relationships with a focus on safety and Responsible Care.
  • Excellent negotiation, stakeholder education, and risk mitigation skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills; adept at change management and consulting.
  • Ability to perform Cost‑Benefit Analysis and TCO Analysis; familiarity with Incoterms, importation/logistics, and work‑permit processes.
