Introduction

Brunel is currently partnering with a leading oil and gas business to source an experienced Payroll Advisor for an initial 12-month contract, with the potential for extension.

This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with strong end-to-end experience to join a well-established organisation and play a key role in delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll services within a complex operating environment.

About this role

Reporting to the Lead Payroll Advisor, the Payroll Advisor will be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely delivery of payroll and associated reporting activities. The role will also provide support across compliance, reconciliations, audits, system updates, and employee query resolution.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical payroll capability, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure salaries and wages are processed accurately and on time
  • Maintain employee payroll, salary, and leave records
  • Respond to payroll-related queries across the organisation
  • Support payroll compliance activities
  • Assist with payroll system testing for enhancements, legislative updates, and support packs
  • Prepare payroll-related management reports
  • Assist with redundancy calculations and termination processing
  • Support regular payroll audit activities
  • Provide back-up support to the Lead Payroll Advisor
  • Contribute to year-end payroll reporting, reconciliations, and compliance activities including STP close-out, remuneration review support, and FBT reporting
  • Work closely with HRIS and broader HR teams to ensure strong business process and data integrity

Is this you?

  • Minimum 3 years of end-to-end payroll experience
  • Experience working with SAP HR and/or Payroll modules
  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in reconciliations and payroll reporting
  • Experience supporting payroll and/or HRIS audits
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in record keeping
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative approach and strong team player attitude
  • Previous experience within the resources, oil and gas, mining, or other complex workforce environments is highly regarded
