Brunel has partnered with a leading organisation in the defence sector to offer an exciting opportunity for a Configuration Engineer to join on a permanent, full-time basis at their Henderson facility. This role is well suited to someone with a strong technical background in configuration management and PLM systems, who thrives in complex engineering environments.

About this role

The Configuration Engineer supports the Configuration Management Team in executing and maintaining robust configuration management practices across a complex defence program. This role focuses on the technical implementation of configuration processes, data analysis, and system integration, ensuring accurate reporting and traceability of configuration items throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Configuration Management Lead to implement and maintain CM processes aligned with ASDEFCON and defence standards.
  • Serve as the technical expert for PLM systems (Siemens Teamcenter), including data modelling, integrations, and automation.
  • Develop and maintain Configuration Status Accounting (CSA) reports and Baseline Reports using a variety of data solutions, scripting methods, and analytical tools.

Main Duties:

  • Develop and maintain Configuration Data by managing design and product baselines, change requests, variations and obsolescence using Teamcenter.
  • Administer and optimize the system landscape for configuration management tools including Teamcenter, TCRA, Jira, and Power BI.
  • Perform advanced data analysis to support configuration audits, change impact assessments, and baseline integrity checks.
  • Support Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) workflows and ensure accurate data traceability across digital systems.
  • Automate reporting and dashboarding solutions to provide real-time visibility into configuration status and metrics.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of configuration audits, including data readiness and traceability validation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to PLM integrations, data inconsistencies, and reporting errors

Is this you?

  • Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Business Systems Analysis, or a related technical field.
  • Australian Citizenship is essential
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and technical documentation.
  • Good understanding of IT system landscapes and infrastructure, including familiarity with server environments, scheduled tasks, and basic troubleshooting, to support configuration related operations and integrations.
  • Strong hands-on experience with PLM systems, especially Siemens Teamcenter.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.

Preferred

  • Solid understanding of configuration management principles and defence standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in complex digital environments with integrated systems and evolving processes.
  • Advanced skills in Power BI for dashboard creation and data visualization.
