Our client is one of Australia's leading growers and a household name in the world of Agribusiness. With operations across the country, they're committed to providing a safe, healthy and productive workplace for their people. We are currently seeking an experienced Safety Officer to join our team in Atherton, Queensland.
Reporting to the site leadership team, the Safety Officer will play a key role in supporting and driving workplace health and safety initiatives across our Atherton operations. This is a hands-on roving role, ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with operational teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Support the implementation and maintenance of WHS systems and procedures
Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments and safety audits
Investigate incidents and near misses, and support corrective actions
Assist with injury management, return-to-work and workers' compensation processes
Deliver safety training
Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, codes of practice and company standards
Provide practical safety advice to leaders and employees on site
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across health and safety
Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or higher qualification)
Previous experience in a safety role, ideally within agriculture, manufacturing, logistics or a similar operational environment
Sound knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to influence safe behaviours at all levels of the organisation
Proactive, organised and comfortable working in a hands-on role
Competent with reporting systems and Microsoft Office applications
