Introduction

Our client is a leading provider of testing, inspection, and certification services across Australia. They are now expanding into geotechnical engineering services across civil infrastructure, mining, and construction projects.

Ideal for a motivated Geotechnical Engineer looking to take ownership of a new capability and work alongside a collaborative, quality‑focused team.

About this role

  • Establish and lead geotechnical engineering services in Western Australia, providing technical direction and building capability from the ground up.
  • Plan and supervise site investigations including boreholes, CPT, test pits, drilling supervision, in‑situ testing, logging, and sampling while ensuring compliance with Australian standards and safety protocols.
  • Analyse field and laboratory data to evaluate soil and rock properties, and deliver foundation recommendations, slope stability assessments, settlement evaluations, and geotechnical design reports.
  • Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and budgets, and manage client relationships through direct communication and professional reporting.
  • Mentor and guide field technicians and junior staff, contributing to a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for new geotechnical service offerings and support business development initiatives to grow the WA client base.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant Australian standards (AS 1726, AS 1289, AS 2159) and ensure all work complies with regulatory and company policies.

Is this you?

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master's degree or Chartered status highly regarded).
  • Minimum 4 years of professional geotechnical engineering experience in Australia, with proven hands‑on involvement in field investigations, logging, sampling, and direct client interaction.
  • Strong technical expertise in soil and rock mechanics, foundation design, slope stability, and construction materials testing.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian standards (AS 1726, AS 2159) and experience applying them in practice.
  • Excellent communication skills - able to explain complex technical concepts clearly to clients, colleagues, and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Self‑motivated and autonomous, comfortable with a mix of field and office work, and capable of managing multiple projects while maintaining quality and safety standards.
