Introduction

Brunel is currently partnering with a specialist equipment rental and services business to recruit a Field Service Mechanic - Offshore Equipment based from their Perth Metro workshop.

This is a hands-on mechanical role suited to a trade-qualified LV, HD, diesel or vehicle mechanic who enjoys variety, working with specialist equipment, and the opportunity to travel to client sites across WA and the NT.

When not working away, you will be based in the workshop, supporting the servicing, maintenance, testing and preparation of equipment before dispatch and following return from site. Travel is sporadic and client-driven, with offshore and onshore assignments typically ranging from one to three weeks at a time.

About this role

Reporting into the local operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing and operating specialist equipment used across the oil and gas sector. Your duties will include:

  • Servicing, maintaining and testing equipment prior to dispatch and post-return
  • Working on diesel-driven air compressors and booster compressors
  • Supporting maintenance of desiccant dryers, flexible hoses and steam generator equipment
  • Completing oil, belt, coolant and general service-related maintenance
  • Assisting with equipment preparation, inspections and fault-finding
  • Representing the business professionally while working on client sites
  • Supporting clients with additional tasks where required
  • Completing service documentation and paperwork accurately and in full
  • Working in the Perth Metro workshop when not deployed to site
  • Travelling offshore and onshore across WA and the NT as required

Working Conditions

  • Workshop hours: 6:30am - 2:30pm, Monday to Friday
  • Travel: Approximately 20-40%, depending on client requirements
  • Site trips: Generally 1-3 weeks duration
  • Site shifts: Typically 12-hour shifts, day or night
  • Travel areas: Primarily WA, with some NT travel and occasional interstate work
  • Accommodation is arranged while working away
  • Company credit card provided
  • Transport from home to airport covered when travelling for work

Is this you?

  • Trade qualification as an LV Mechanic, HD Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic or Vehicle Mechanic
  • Strong mechanical maintenance experience
  • Experience working on diesel-driven equipment, compressors, boosters, dryers or similar equipment
  • Ability to work independently in the field and as part of a small workshop team
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete paperwork accurately
  • A professional approach when representing the business on client sites
  • A team-focused attitude and willingness to assist where required
  • Flexibility to travel offshore and onshore when required

Experience with the following would be highly regarded:

  • Diesel-driven compressors
  • Air compressors / booster compressors
  • Atlas Copco, Ingersoll Rand, Cummins, Sullair, CompAir or similar equipment
  • Steam generators or boiler systems
  • Intermediate or Advanced Boiler Ticket
  • Offshore oil and gas site experience
  • BOSIET, MSIC or OGUK medical

Please note, this role is best suited to candidates with a strong mechanical, diesel, vehicle or mobile plant maintenance background. Steam generator or boiler experience would be highly regarded, however this is not a boilermaker role.
