Introduction

Brunel is currently seeking a Talent Management Specialist to support a busy Human Resources team within a fast-paced industrial operating environment. This is a 15-month contract opportunity with a hybrid work arrangement that includes both remote work and periodic travel to site.

What are you going to do

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment activities for hourly, salaried, technical, trades, operational, and professional positions.
  • Partner with hiring managers and department leaders to understand staffing requirements, establish recruitment strategies, and coordinate hiring timelines.
  • Prepare and post job advertisements using appropriate internal and external recruitment channels.
  • Review applications, screen candidates, and identify qualified individuals for consideration.
  • Conduct candidate interviews and coordinate interviews with hiring teams.
  • Provide support and guidance to hiring managers throughout the candidate assessment and selection process.
  • · Maintain regular and professional communication with candidates throughout each stage of the recruitment process.
  • Prepare and issue employment offer letters and other required hiring documentation.
  • Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including background checks, reference checks, medical assessments, and other applicable screening requirements.
  • Track pre-employment activities and ensure successful candidates have satisfied all conditions before their scheduled start date.
  • Coordinate candidates through the pre-employment and onboarding process, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and on time.
  • Work closely with HR, hiring managers, and other departments to ensure new employees are appropriately prepared for their first day.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date recruitment records, candidate information, and supporting documentation within applicable HR systems and employee files.
  • Support recruitment reporting and the tracking of vacancies, candidate pipelines, recruitment activity, and hiring metrics.
  • Develop and maintain talent pools and candidate pipelines to support current and future workforce requirements.
  • Support career fairs, recruitment events, community outreach, and other talent attraction initiatives.
  • Coordinate an annual student employment program, including recruitment, selection, offer preparation, pre-employment requirements, onboarding, orientation, and general program administration.
  • Partner with department leaders to coordinate student placements, schedules, performance feedback, and end-of-term activities.
  • Maintain student program records and support the identification of high-potential students for future employment opportunities.
  • Promote the organization's employment brand and values throughout all candidate and stakeholder interactions.
  • Ensure recruitment, selection, pre-employment, and onboarding practices align with organizational policies, established HR processes, applicable employment standards, accessibility requirements, human rights legislation, and other legal obligations.
  • Protect the confidentiality of candidate and employee information throughout the recruitment and onboarding process.
  • Support additional Talent Management and Human Resources initiatives as required.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, human resources, or a related discipline.
  • Experience coordinating or managing full-cycle recruitment processes is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of recruitment practices, candidate assessment, and pre-employment processes.
  • Experience preparing employment offers and coordinating onboarding activities.
  • Experience working with applicant tracking systems and/or human resources information systems.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple recruitment processes, priorities, and competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when working with confidential candidate and employee information.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with candidates, hiring managers, employees, HR stakeholders, and external service providers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Previous experience supporting recruitment within mining, industrial, construction, manufacturing, or remote-site operations is considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel to an operating site when required.
