Introduction

I'm partnering with one of Queensland's most respected commercial builders to source an experienced Senior Project Engineer for a complex, live-environment hospital project in Brisbane. This is an opportunity to join a builder with an outstanding reputation for delivering landmark projects and developing high-performing construction professionals.

Working closely with an experienced Project Manager and Site Manager, you'll play a key role in the successful delivery of a technically complex vertical construction project valued at approximately $50 million.

What are you going to do

You'll be involved in delivering a highly technical project within an operational healthcare environment, requiring exceptional planning, stakeholder management and construction methodology.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Lead project engineering activities from commencement through to completion.
  • Manage procurement and subcontract packages.
  • Develop and monitor construction programmes and short-term lookaheads.
  • Coordinate design, consultants and subcontractors to resolve technical issues.
  • Drive quality assurance, inspections and compliance.
  • Manage RFIs, variations and project documentation.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to maintain programme and budget objectives.
  • Mentor Graduate and Project Engineers within the team.
  • Build strong relationships with consultants, clients and subcontractors.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Degree qualified in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • 6+ years' experience delivering commercial construction projects with a reputable head contractor.
  • Previous experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer on projects valued $30M+.
  • Strong understanding of structural and services coordination.
  • Experience delivering technically challenging builds such as health, laboratories, education, major commercial or complex refurbishments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive attitude with aspirations to continue progressing into Project Management.
