Introduction

Join Brunel as a Project Controller supporting the successful delivery of major capital projects in Houston, TX. You will collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Finance, and Project Management teams to provide accurate cost control, forecasting, reporting, and project performance insights throughout the project lifecycle.

What are you going to do

Responsibilities

Support the administration of EPC and major contract agreements to ensure financial compliance, budget alignment, change management, and effective cost control across capital projects.

Track commitments, change orders, invoices, and payment applications while supporting accurate cost reporting and claims administration.

Establish and maintain project budgets, cost baselines, forecasts, cash flow projections, and contingency tracking throughout the project lifecycle.

Maintain project controls systems and prepare accurate project reports and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.

Perform variance analysis, identify potential cost and project risks, and support the development of mitigation actions.

Maintain Earned Value Management (EVM) and KPI tracking activities.

Support project financing activities, including financial close requirements, lender reporting, funding requests, and cash flow tracking.

Support Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), project progress measurement, stage gate processes, and project governance activities.

Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Finance, Contracts, and Project Management teams to support integrated project controls delivery.

Identify opportunities to improve project controls processes, reporting, digital solutions, and data management.

Essential skills and knowledge 

3-6 years of project controls experience within EPC, construction, infrastructure, or major capital projects.

Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, or a related field.

Strong experience with cost control, budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, variance analysis, EVM, change management, and cash flow tracking.

Understanding of EPC/construction contracts, WBS, and project governance processes.

Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP or project controls systems such as Oracle, Power BI, D365, InEight, or SAP.

Renewable energy or broader energy sector experience is preferred.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.1
