What are you going to do

Brunel is partnering with a leading engineering and construction contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Mechanical Installation Supervisor for one of Australia's largest renewable energy infrastructure projects.

This role will lead the delivery of a major mechanical installation package involving the installation of large-diameter penstocks, collectors and heavy steel piping within a complex underground construction environment. You'll be responsible for supervising crews, coordinating subcontractors and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. The position description specifically covers installation of draft tube sections, collectors and penstocks in underground or confined environments.

  • Lead mechanical installation crews delivering large steel piping and penstock installations
  • Supervise pipe fit-up, welding, alignment and installation activities
  • Ensure all works comply with engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances
  • Coordinate daily activities with Engineering, Survey, QA/QC and HSE teams
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and drive productivity across multiple work fronts
  • Conduct pre-start meetings and promote a strong safety culture
  • Manage installation quality, inspections and project documentation
  • Identify construction risks and provide practical solutions onsite

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Trade qualification or relevant technical background
  • Extensive experience supervising heavy mechanical installation projects
  • Strong background installing large-diameter steel pipework, penstocks, pressure piping or heavy fabricated steel
  • Experience within hydro, tunnelling, mining, LNG, oil & gas or major infrastructure projects
  • Excellent understanding of installation sequencing, precision alignment and quality control
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop site teams
  • White Card and current Driver's Licence
