Introduction
We are hiring a Senior Financial Analyst for our client, Eli Lilly, based in Toronto, Ontario. The Senior Financial Analyst plays a critical role within the Accounting and Tax team. This position is responsible for supporting a comprehensive range of accounting, treasury and tax-related activities, including local and US GAAP tax compliance, tax accounting, audit support, transfer pricing, and intercompany processes.
What are you going to do
Financial Reporting
- Manage local accounting and tax compliance activities, including month end management, preparation of provisions, associated payments, and account reconciliations.
- Oversee corporate reporting (US GAAP) and local reporting.
- Prepare and review statutory accounts, ensuring correct accounting classifications.
- Prepare supporting schedules for corporate income tax returns.
- Provide transfer pricing support and assist with all intercompany billing processes.
- Assist with forecasting and managing the profitability of the legal entity.
- Prepare necessary fiscal reports and support tax audits in Canada.
- Support customs reporting processes.
- Lead the preparation and automation of the T2200 forms for employees.
Controls
- Demonstrate a strong compliance-oriented mindset.
- Maintain awareness of all applicable financial and taxation standards, process documentation, and training materials to ensure compliant execution of responsibilities.
- Ensure adherence to SOx and other relevant controls related to all aspects of reporting.
Process Expertise and Business Partnership
- Drive for results and implement best practices to achieve the highest standards for the accounting and tax function.
- Collaborate effectively with business partners at all levels and across disciplines.
- Continuously improve accounting and tax processes through automation and systems integrations; identify manual processes and streamline through system configuration and AI. Ensure all related documentation updated accordingly.
Essential skills and knowledge
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting.
- CPA certification
- Solid system aptitude, SAP preferred, including participation in implementation or continuous improvement projects.
- Advanced Excel proficiency and AI skills (Claude, Co-Pilot, Power Automate)
- Minimum of 3 years' accounting experience in multinational companies.
- Strong project management skills; ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines across multiple workstreams.
- Strong detail-oriented, analytical, problem-solving, and advanced communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior management
- Ability to work effectively in local, regional, and global teams.
- Fluency in English.
Additional Skills / Preferences
- Experience in public practice, preferably with Big 4 firms.
- Familiarity with Canadian tax laws
- Ability to manage both detailed tasks and high-level analysis
- Knowledge of transfer pricing, and indirect tax
- Familiarity with SAP systems
