Introduction

Our client is a Canadian-focused gold producer with high-grade underground assets in Ontario and Québec. Located a short drive from Wawa, the mine is set in a scenic, quiet forest setting with a strong camp environment, excellent food, sauna/gym, recreation room, and opportunities to stay connected with family and friends.

What are you going to do

  • Oversee underground mining development and production activities to ensure safe, stable, and efficient delivery of ore to the mill in line with weekly, monthly, and budget plans.
  • Lead execution of short-, medium-, and long-term underground mine production plans aligned with operational and business objectives.
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production performance against targets and KPIs, adjusting schedules as required to address constraints.
  • Coordinate underground loading, hauling, development, ore control, ore blending, and alignment between underground production and mill feed requirements.
  • Champion a strong safety culture focused on zero harm and ensure compliance with Ontario mining regulations, company policies, and site procedures.
  • Lead incident investigations, risk assessments, corrective actions, and adherence to safe work practices, SOPs, and underground operational standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop supervisors, superintendents, and underground production teams while establishing clear expectations and accountability across shifts.
  • Optimize underground mobile equipment utilization and availability in partnership with maintenance and engineering teams.
  • Manage underground mining production costs in alignment with budget targets, cost-per-tonne objectives, and operating input consumption.
  • Work with geology, engineering, and survey teams to support grade control, minimize dilution and ore loss, and maintain consistent mill feed quality.
  • Prepare and present operational reports, monitor KPIs, participate in audits and inspections, and support continuous improvement initiatives across underground operations.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering, or significant years of relevant underground mining operational experience.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of underground mining experience, preferably within underground gold mining operations.
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership or management role within underground mining.
  • Strong understanding of underground mining methods, mine planning execution, ventilation, ground control, and production processes.
  • Proven ability to safely deliver production targets, optimize operational performance, and lead high-performing teams in a dynamic mining environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.
  • Supervisory or leadership development training would be considered an asset.
