Our client, a global oil and gas service provider, is seeking a Material Specialist to join their team in Moomba, SA. This is a permanent role with a work rotation of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. The ideal candidate will have experience in an inventory/warehouse environment, preferably associated with oil and gas, heavy equipment, or manufacturing industries.

What are you going to do

The Materials Specialist is responsible to execute warehouse activities within the assigned Division/location. They ensure adherence to company standards, applying good housekeeping practices, with a strong focus on safety and efficiency, ensuring goods are received, stored, and issued to internal and external customers in a timely manner. They maintain inventory accuracy, both physically and in the warehouse management system and provide support on stock replenishment activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with established procedures and company standards to maintain effective control over the physical product flow and storage for the warehouse and other inventory areas.
  • Support operations by either supervising or directly executing warehouse processes (reception, issuance, counting, junking, etc.).
  • Implement required documentation and labelling per company standards and local requirements.
  • Maintain timely input to the Warehouse Management System and ensure accurate stock transaction records.
  • Proactively monitor and implement local strategies to reduce excess and ageing stock (specifically aim for a reduction of DSOH and slow-moving indicators) for the assigned Divisions.
  • Execute cycle count and periodical physical counts: plan creation/posting of adjustments/root cause and reporting per global procedure.
  • Perform periodic reviews of the exception reports in order to maintain data integrity in the Warehouse Management System, including but not limited to discrepancies between systems, unit price, aged open/failed/pending for approval/unmatched transactions, and inactive parts.
  • Promote, execute, and follow-up internal field material transfers, until final closure, ensuring quality controls are carried out and are compliant with the Division quality standards.
  • Aim for continuous improvement and regular use of Lean tools such as 5S exercise to improve WH efficiency and reduce waste. Implement, as applicable, advanced techniques (e.g., Kitting, Kanban) to improve local materials management efficiency.
  • Conduct periodic self-assessments and audits as dictated by the global processes.





Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Excellent work ethic, reliable and self-motivated.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • At least 2 years minimum of experience in an inventory/warehouse environment, preferably associated with oil and gas, heavy equipment, or manufacturing industries.
  • Forklift Truck License
  • Ability to work unsupervised while clearly executing instructions.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with accurate counting, picking and data entry skills is required.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities.Very good computer skills including SAP and Microsoft Suite of applications.
  • Valid driver’s license essential.
  • Valid high risk forklift truck license, 16t FLT and high reach experience advantageous
  • DG by road and sea advantageous
  • Perforation, plugs and packers

This is a FIFO work to Moomba base and flights covered from Adelaide or Brisbane airport.
