Introduction

Our client, a prominent global oil and gas service provider, is currently in search of a Materials Handler to become an integral part of their team in Henderson.
The primary purpose of this position is to facilitate the movement and accurate recording of all equipment. This includes tasks such as loading and unloading trucks, as well as manually or mechanically transporting materials from one location to another using material handling equipment.

What are you going to do

  • Execute assigned work following established procedures and processes
  • Proactively participate in HSE initiatives and programs. Stop work activities if work is identified or believed to be executed in an unsafe manner and lead and motivate other colleagues to do the same
  • Physically prepare materials for safe movement or shipment
  • Practice good housekeeping in assigned area and properly dispose of waste according to safety and environment policies
  • Prepare suitable storage plans, set up storage locations to optimize storage space and effect storage requirements in line with plans
  • Efficiently and accurately store, track and control all project material in custody, including executing all internal movements physically and systematically in SAP
  • Prepare accurate reports and records of the equipment and spare parts inventory at the base, offshore locations and at onshore site locations in SAP
  • Prepare, generate and update inventory count sheets for customer property audits, general requests, and cycle counts. Execute routine stock checks
  • Promptly report any operational problems or safety issues with machinery, tools or equipment to team leader
  • Move materials between locations as instructed by delivery notes by lifting, pushing, rolling or operating hand trucks, forklifts, pallets stackers, and other material handling equipment
  • Load and unload trucks according to established safety and operating procedures and processes
  • Assist in the preparation of shipments by staging, counting, documenting, and packaging materials for safe transport. Process paperwork and enter SAP data update, request transport through 3rd party provider and buyers
  • Distribute received shipment by delivering materials to requestor and/or stock location. Process paperwork and system update to record transactions
  • Assist in physically locating materials in the warehouse and yard
  • Prepare all shipping and transportation documents, including shipping proforma’s and material movements tickets, and filling of same
  • Manage SAP inventory entries and update systematically and also physically by weighing, measuring, and recording materials and creating and attaching identifying equipment tags
  • Assist in internal and customer audits and cycle counts to support inventory control activities;
  • Research equipment in SAP and locate technical drawings

Essential skills and knowledge 

Qualifications (Educational Professional)

  • Valid forklift licence and dogging or rigging tickets

Knowledge/Skills (consider practical, technical and managerial knowledge)

  • Proven ability to comprehend internal documents including shipping and inventory documents and technical drawings
  • Ability to operate a pallet stacker and power tools
  • Demonstrated basic mathematical skills (eg: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Computer literacy
  • Working knowledge of SAP advantageous

Experience (please consider the typical career path the incumbent would have)

  • Minimum of three years of experience in a similar environment working with similar equipment

  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to complete basic tasks unsupervised
