Introduction

Brunel has an exciting long-term contract opportunity for a Materials Handler supporting our client who is a leading global mining and metals company.

This contract position will work on-site in Bagdad, Arizona, the working week is Monday through Friday, on a 4-week on-site/1-week at home not working rotational schedule. Travel accommodations, transportation, and a monthly stipend will be included.

What are you going to do

Under close supervision, expedites the movement of parts and material between laydown areas by listing or otherwise moving raw materials and/or parts. Prepares and coordinates schedules for pulling and delivering materials to control the flow of goods. Safely operates appropriate equipment (forklifts/trucks) required to move materials between warehouse and laydown areas. Follows all safety rules and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Material handlers' essential duties are to perform various tasks for the Project team as but not limited to:
  • Inbound: Unload trucks, trailers, containers of freight, counting products, compare to manifest to check all shipments for damage, infestation, or production code dates.
  • Material handlers must report shortages, damages, and mis-shipments on appropriate forms.
  • Also, be able to sign for inbound shipments when necessary.
  • All inbound shipments are moved safely to storage locations to be efficiently stacked as stored as required.
  • Order Picking: Ensure that the construction work package number (CWP), quantity and type (lot, batch, serial number) of product are picked.
  • Transport orders to shipping locations or delivery areas with material handling equipment such as but not limited to fork trucks, cherry pickers, or pallet jacks.
  • Materials handlers must be able to label, stencil, tag, mark orders, band, bundle, wrap, over-pack, and palletize as required.
  • Equipment: Maintain equipment in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Comply with company standards and MSHA requirements.
  • Inventory: Keep accurate records and reports.
  • Assist in physical inventories and cycle counts.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Make key inventory adjustments in computer.
  • Other Duties: Repack or re-box cases per customer instructions.
  • Stack and or separate goods from bad pallets when necessary; clean trailers, trucks, lay down areas as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Education

  • Additional courses after High School and 3 years' OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience and 5 years' experience

Experience

  • Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Must be able to use proper techniques to lift up to 25 kg.
  • The ability to follow directions with emphasis on safety is extremely important.
  • Must be able to handle stress caused in meeting deadlines with tight scheduling requirements.
  • Must be able to shift priorities easily.
  • Must have responsible work habits.
  • Must be familiar with warehouse systems.
  • Skill and ability to use Microsoft office tools and company software.
  • Able to work in cleanroom environment.
  • Ability to understand SOP's, documents, and regulations.

If candidate is not local to the area, client will provide accommodations and travel for a 4 week on, 1 week off not working rotation, along with monthly stipend for living expenses.
