Introduction

  • Materials Lead on LNG Major Projects and North Field Production Sustainability Projects.
  • Provide expert guidance on materials selection, corrosion management, cathodic protection, coating and risk-based inspection (RBI) for offshore topsides, subsea, and onshore pipelines (offshore scope) projects.

What are you going to do

  • Ensure the Contractor's materials and corrosion engineering for Topsides, Subsea Pipelines and Onshore Facilities (Offshore scope), comply with the Contract requirements including codes and standards. Provide guidance to the contractor to promote compliance.
  • Review and approve corrosion control philosophies, corrosion risk assessments (CRAS), corrosion control manuals, dead leg register and mitigation strategies for offshore, subsea, and onshore systems (offshore scope), and lead Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) programs, manage Pipeline Integrity Management Plans (PIMS), and establish Integrity Operating Windows.
  • Lead technical analyses to determine the most effective materials for a given application and to ensure that these materials meet safety, performance and quality standards.
  • Lead the qualification of corrosion and batch inhibitors for wet sour gas pipelines
  • Review and approve painting and coating deliverables and design of cathodic protection (CP) systems for offshore platforms and subsea structures through modeling and retrofit programs.
  • Develop and maintain the specifications and standards for materials used in Major Projects.
  • Review non-conformances, technical queries, standard deviation requests and product/ component issues
  • Lead and conduct metallurgical investigations and root cause analyses and identify and solve materials related issues that arise during project execution. In addition, lead qualification programs of new mills and materials.
  • Participate to key design workshop and ensure that materials recommendation is correctly implemented and actions closed before the end of EPCI (Lessons Learned, Value Engineering, HAZID HAZOP, engineering criticality assessment, etc.) and also ensure compliance with international codes & standards: API 571, API 580, API 581, NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, DNV-ST-F101, ASME B31.3/B31.4/B31.8, ASME SEC VIII and ISO 21457…etc.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, third-party auditors, and certification authorities for offshore project approvals
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations related to materials use in the oil and gas industry.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science or Material Engineering degree
  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience as a Materials & Corrosion Lead, with deep technical expertise in materials, corrosion, and asset integrity engineering within the oil and gas industry.
  • This must include extensive experience across all offshore project phases, specifically leading FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and megascale (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects, alongside hands-on exposure to fabrication, manufacturing, construction, and at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Has led least 2 major offshore projects from concept select phase up to Commissioning.
  • Demonstrated track record in authoring, developing, and continuously improving comprehensive engineering specifications and project requirements for the Materials discipline (including material selection, raw materials, welding, manufacturing, inspection, fabrication, coatings, corrosion management and risk-based inspection).
  • Formal courses in ISO9001/API Q1/AQPI Q2 Quality Management Systems, ASNT Non-Destructive Testing, Pipeline, topsides or downstream equipment material design, NACE Corrosion Engineering, Quality System Documentation and Continual Improvement Processes.
